"Lodge was comfortable, albeit slightly cold even with the heaters on. Note, lodge checkout is 10am, not 11am as advertised when booking. Even on check in, the member of staff said 11, but there’s a sign in the lodge saying 10. We checked with staff on our last day after noticing, and this caused a last minute panic and curtailed our time together in the pool. The reception staff weren’t particularly understanding despite the avoidable confusion being caused by their mixed information. Following our stay, we did spot that they email you after booking with the small print to say check out for lodges is at 10. So be prepared for this.
The property and lodges are in nice grounds. It’s clearly kept going by members, which seem priority. The pool is nice and was a big draw for us, but family swims were a challenge with all the exercise classes (families are limited to a narrow single lane). The pool changing rooms were having a maintenance issue, so everyone had to get changed in the dry changing rooms, and only the gents wet changing was open for people to walk through. This lack of changing caused an issue at the busy periods of classes leaving/arriving. They also ran out of towels and asked us if we could go back to our room, when we said we in the lodges and needed to walk back, staff did then go and get some more.
Overall an ok base to explore the area. The ‘nice’ aspects of the property and expense (pool, etc) was let down by not really feeling welcome.

"After a long day of travelling i found the Courtyard to be the best of hotels to rest up and have a meal. The staff were great and so polite. Room quality was nice and spacious. High quality shower room. **Note to all. Remember to switch the power on just inside your room door. The taps are electric and won't work without the power on. That small detail caught me out !!! But other than that i would highly recommend this hotel for a stay. I will be staying there again. "
"What a beautiful hotel, can’t fault my stay. Lovely staff, great restaurant with huge choices and bright clean bedroom and bathroom. Highly recommended."
"Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was well cooked and reasonable in price. Parking was safe and easy and th egrounds, which lead to a park and the beach are wonderful. Our dog was welcome with us and well looked after in the hotel - much more so than some 'dog friendly' hotels."
"The hotel is clean. The reception staff are accommodating however i do feel ripped off. I stay in hotels for a decent nights sleep, and that was not achievable. The mattress was uncomfortable, there was a 2 inch gap under the door and the corridor lights didnt turn off all night. I payed an extra £14 for a breakfast that was not worth £5. The sausage had been cooked on such a high temperature the outside was cooked and the inside cold, the bacon had only just been introduced to a grill, the poached eggs flooded the plate with uncooked egg white, the coffee from a flask was warm at best. The breakfast staff had no idea who ordered what, so ended up walking round the room quizzing gets what they ordered, when a table number could have solved this, or a wooden spoon in the vase on the table with an order number. The hotel looks to also be used for staff family for breakfast. So all in all not a good stay and a complete waste of money. "
