We loved staying here. Beautiful place inside and even has a shared rooftop space with some loungers. Highly recommend if you want a nice space that is within reasonable proximity to Old San Juan.

The spot itself was not bad, close access to everything and the room was well advertised. Communication with the staff was not the best. Language barrier was not an issue, they just wouldn’t respond to requests/needs.

The apartment was clean and had all the basic necessities that were needed. Unfortunately, the stove top did not work, and there was no other way to heat food up, and there was no remote to use or access usage of the television.

The good to bad to the worst… Good: Easy check in, very spacious, close to old San Juan, awesome historical building. Bad: The floors definitely were not mopped, windows are not sound proof, kitchen lacks essentials besides the very basic, no paper towels, kitchen towels or spices. Be prepared to walk up some stairs if in the higher level apartments. Worst: Vaulted ceilings, makes it very echoey. You can hear every single outside noise, the construction in the building next-door was unbearable!

the check in process is crazy too many steps to do . separate area to store luggage . no elevators we have to carry up the stairs our luggages not disclose in the website . the place is dirty the floors not being cleaned properly lots of dirt and dirt stain on the tile floors . smells smokey inside even tho it said non smoking in the website . the only good thing about casa pelayo is spacious apartment and the location is accessible to the old san juan and the airport

The location is good. However, we were disappointed in several things. The floor was filthy. The coffee pot did not work. The kitchen had only a few things. There was no soap, shampoo, and conditioner. We had to go and purchase these. The furniture was dirty, some even had stains. The one good thing, the bed was comfy and the sheets were clean.

On the first night We were not provided a room until 10:30pm as there was an outage. In the morning we asked about being assigned our original apartment but the manager did not have a room/apartment available. We were told to wait longer (duration unknown after asking 2-3x) because they had to call around and see what was available. In total my husband and I and our two young kids sat in the lobby for about 2 hours (the night before and morning of Thursday) waiting for a room to be assigned. When they told us that it would be assigned by 12:30pm I still had not received a message with access information to the room/apartment. I had to call again and wait for the person to finally send me the information. The apartment that we were assigned is overall vacant with little furniture and looks like it's not ready to host guests. The shower didn’t work for 24 hours. I had to call 3x and email to get them to fix it. No WiFi either. It seems as though this company has little experience with customer service and managing multiple sites at the same time, especially when there is a challenge like a power outage. The first night it was 1 single woman managing multiple buildings during an outage. She seemed clearly stressed out and needed support from a manager or team. The business model seems to be extractive of the workers and the guests. I would not recommend staying there, especially for families.

We were in apt #2 of Casa Pelayo Cleanliness: The shower hadn't been cleaned when we arrived. It had hair and dirt. We contacted management who apologized and said cleaning would come the next day. They didn't. The floors, of course, got progressively dirty throughout our 4 day trip but there was no broom and "extra cleaning" would have come with a fee so we ended up wearing shoes inside. Towels were never changed....for a four-day. False description: Speaking of towels, there were no beach towels (though said to be available in the description) so I spent $23 for 3 at Walmart. Not good. They said there are places for laundry "nearby" in the description. What they did didn't say is that they are not in walking distance and that laundry places' reviews are horrendous. Living: There is virtually no storage for clothing/items. There are 2 nightstands in the bedroom and a built-in shelf that is poorly built and cracking under weight/pressure. This is for an apt that is supposed to house up to 4 people (again, they didn't replace towels despite me requesting). There is also no powered ventilation in the bathroom despite it sitting off the bedroom so you might want to take quick showers and flush a lot if you have to do a number two. It's a street level apartment so you will hear cars and music loud and clear. Hoses for all 6 apartments' AC units run thru the bathroom ceiling so condensation will drip on you when you're in there. The indoor shutters don't work well.

Nobody answered hotel phone number to help me with check-in, and nobody is present at actual location. The sofa bed was dirty and had pee stains so all 3 of us slept had to sleep together in one bed. Tried to take a shower and shower faucet fell off, so I couldn’t. Parking is two blocks away and wasn’t given directions to parking until after I was in room. Very loud as it is on a busy street and heard cars racing, police sirens, trash collectors all night.
