"The resort was lovely, with a large variety of options for eating. Our butler Carlos was amazing, and made our stay so much smoother and more enjoyable. The beach was lovely, but I do recommend water shoes, because there are some random rocks and such under the water. We had an issue with our room, but our butler Carlos, the maintenance staff, and the rest of the staff were attentive worked in a timely fashion for a solution. "The hotel itself was very nice, but the biggest problem during our stay was the staff and the constant marketing. At almost every corner we were approached by someone trying to sell us upgrades or “exclusive promotions,” many of which we had already heard earlier in the day. It quickly became overwhelming and made it hard to relax and actually enjoy the vacation. We were also pressured into attending a breakfast in order to receive a Prestige upgrade. During that meeting, our “concierge” repeatedly pushed us and even mentioned he needed us to complete the breakfast because his boss had moved him into marketing. The whole interaction felt uncomfortable and more like a sales pitch than hospitality. Another issue that bothered me was how some staff treated guests who spoke Spanish. Instead of feeling welcomed, I often felt spoken to in a rude or dismissive way. At the same time, when they tried to communicate with my boyfriend in English, he often had to ask multiple times to understand what they were trying to say. Right before we left, we were approached again and encouraged to buy another $1,400 trip to use within 18 months. The associate directed the entire pitch to my boyfriend. When I said no, she responded, “What, are you the boss?” which felt unprofessional and disrespectful. I hope management addresses the aggressive marketing and staff training, because it takes away from what could otherwise be a relaxing stay Alejandra (in dining manager) and Marcos were GREAT. "
