"We were very disappointed with our experience at Riu Palace Cabo, primarily due to how our concerns were handled by the lobby staff.
We reported a significant mosquito problem in our room and requested a room change, but our complaints were completely disregarded.
Even after showing them the bug bites on my daughter, the only response we received was a brief apology with no effort to resolve the issue or accommodate us.
This lack of responsiveness and care was frustrating and not what we expected from a resort of this standard.
On a positive note, the ground staff and restaurant teams were hardworking, attentive, and did their best to provide good service. Their efforts did not go unnoticed and were appreciated.
Overall, while some parts of the experience were good, the poor handling of a genuine concern by the front desk left us feeling let down."
"Location is so convenient if your flight is late and need to rest, the staff is great, the restaurants outstanding but the property needs better maintenance. The water temperature for the shower took more than 20 minutes to warm up which is so inconvenient if you’re are on a schedule. Also I think is a crime to spend so much water in a huge city that has water problems distribution in some areas. The faucet was dirty . It shows some make up stains from previous guests I guess . Overall is good but the water temperature experience was terrible."
"Food was very decent all the time ,wish they had more beef options. Also more mexican options at their buffet. Love they had things like ceviche and salad varieties.
Loved the bar it had a lot of good quality alcohol.
Personal was great, kind an very attentive all the time. Hotel is not big. Do not expect a big beach or many walking areas although it had everything you need."
"Resort is family oriented and staff are all very friendly and nice. Great access to the beach and has plenty of spaces at the pools. However the property itself is very old and poorly maintained. Confusing check-in/check-out counter. Rooms are outdated with some broken furnitures. Doesn’t have pamphlet or booklet in your room to provide basic guest info about restaurants and operating hour, room service menu, and map of facility. Resort layout is a bit awkward. Finally found the kids play area at end of trip, but disappointed that private ship was very rusty that I didn’t want to put my young ones in there. There were many aggressive sales people at the lobby trying to sign you up for a sales presentation. Overall, I would not stay here again since there are plenty of options around the area."
"The bedroom was clean. Our toilet/ shower had separate rooms. The toilet room would be very warm when you’re trying to use the bathroom. The shower leaked out into the room every time you used it, you would have to get a towel and wipe up the water. Our phone and safe were broken. The door conjoining our room with our friends room was broken and unusable. Maintenance fixed the phone and safe on the first night. The door was unable to be fixed. The workers were all great and friendly. There were only 3 specialty restaurants to eat at not including the buffet. The sushi restaurant was the best out of the 3 dinner restaurants. Italian was good and the steakhouse was just okay. We ate at the sushi restaurant 3/5 nights. The buffet was good and had a wide variety of foods. The mixed drinks were good and sometimes the beer would be warm when they served it. The Riu parties were fun and entertaining. Activities around the resort were also fun. The silent disco was my favorite. The beach was clean with hardly any seaweed."
"The proximity to xcaret is great and the buffet is okay. We were told dinner reservations were made every morning for that night. This was incorrect by the time we were sick of the buffet and ready to make dinner reservations they were pretty much all booked up. A lot of guests we spoke with had similar problems with the dinner reservations. Our backup plan, the pizza place was closed during it's open hours on two of the nights we tried. The maps on property are hard to read and it's easy to get turned around definitely not enough signage to help navigate."
